E24 on a Bosch dishwasher means the control expected the water to leave the tub and it did not. Standing water sits in the bottom, the cycle stalls part way, and the dishes come out wet. Unlike the base-pan warnings, this fault lives in the drain path, so the answer is almost always mechanical: a restriction between the filter and the sink waste.
How Bosch Decides the Water Is Not Draining
The control monitors how the drain pump loads and how quickly the sump empties. When the pump spins but the water level barely moves, the software logs E24 rather than let the next fill flood a tub that is already full. It is a protective stop, which is why the cycle freezes rather than pushing on.
That distinction matters for the repair. E24 is a drainage restriction, not a failed pump most of the time, so we work the path from the tub outward before condemning any electrical part.
