A Dacor range burner that will not light comes down to spark, gas, and the switch that links them, and the behaviour tells us which. Dacor sealed burners are reliable, so a single burner that clicks without lighting, or one that has gone silent, usually has a local fault. With no numeric codes involved, we diagnose by watching the spark and the flame and testing the ignition switch behind the affected knob.
Clicks Without Flame Versus No Click
A Dacor burner that clicks steadily but never lights has spark but a gas or cleanliness problem: a clogged port, a burner cap knocked out of position, or a wet electrode after a boil-over. A burner that makes no click while its neighbours do has an electrical fault at that position, in the spark switch, the electrode, or that channel of the spark module.
Separating these two symptoms is the first move, because they lead to entirely different parts.
The Dacor Burner Diagnosis
We lift and clean the burner cap and base, clear the ports, and dry the electrode, which resolves a large share of single-burner faults on its own. We then confirm the ignition switch closes when the knob reaches the light position, inspect the electrode gap, and test the module output to that burner. On sealed Dacor burners we check the cap sits flat so the flame spreads evenly.
Starting with the clean and the reseat means a burner is not condemned when a few minutes of care would have restored it.

Safety First
