F5-E0 on a Jenn-Air oven is a door-lock fault, not a heat fault. The oven expected the motorized latch to reach a position and the control never got the confirmation, so it posts F5-E0 and often refuses to run a clean cycle. On the Whirlpool control platform Jenn-Air uses, this code lives in the lock motor and its switches rather than in the sensor or the board.
How the Lock System Reports F5-E0
Self-cleaning ovens use a small motor to drive the door latch and a set of switches to tell the control where that latch is. During a clean cycle, and sometimes at power-up, the control commands the latch and waits for the switches to confirm locked or unlocked. When the confirmation does not arrive, or arrives contradicting the command, the E0 fault is logged against the F5 lock function.
That is why F5-E0 often appears around a self-clean attempt. The heat is fine; the door hardware is the sticking point.
What We Check on the Latch Assembly
We inspect the lock motor for a seized gear or a burnt winding, then test the lock switches for continuity in each position. A latch that binds mechanically, a switch that no longer changes state, or a chafed lead in the door hinge loom all produce F5-E0. We also confirm the latch cam actually reaches its stops.
The repair is usually the latch assembly or a switch, occasionally the wiring. The control board is rarely the cause, so we prove the mechanism before looking there.

When to Stop Using the Oven
