F70 on a Miele dishwasher is the water-management system raising its hand. The float in the base has moved or the water-level logic has seen something it does not like, and the machine stops to protect itself and your floor. Unlike a simple drain blockage, F70 usually means water has reached the base pan, so the job is finding the leak, not just resetting the code.
How F70 Differs from a Drain Fault
Miele separates drainage problems from water-level and float problems. Where F11 says the tub would not empty, F70 says the float in the safety base has been lifted or the level sensing has failed. On most G-series machines that means moisture has collected under the tub and tripped the float, and the anti-flood valve has closed the supply.
That difference steers the whole visit. We are looking for a seep, a loose hose clamp, or a tired seal rather than a clog in the drain line.
Finding the Water on a Miele
We dry the safety base fully, then run a short controlled cycle with the lower panel removed and watch for the first sign of moisture. On these units the common sources are the door seal, the sump gasket, a fill or circulation hose clamp that has relaxed, or the salt container seal on hard-water homes. Once the float is confirmed free and the leak is sealed, the water-level logic reads normally again.
Guessing at F70 by swapping the float rarely lasts. The float is usually fine; it is doing its job by reporting water it should not be sitting in.
