On these commercial-grade residential machines slow ice almost always means the system is losing efficiency, from a dirty condenser, mineral scale on the evaporator, a warm installation, or a marginal water supply.
Why Output Falls Without Stopping
Ice production depends on rejecting heat efficiently and freezing clean water quickly. When the condenser is packed with dust, the machine cannot shed heat, so each cycle takes longer and the batches shrink. When scale coats the evaporator, it insulates the surface and slows the freeze. A warm cabinet location or a hot ambient adds to the load. None of these stop the machine; they just drag the rate down.

Our Approach to Slow Scotsman Output
We clean the condenser and confirm its fan runs, then inspect and descale the evaporator and water system, since scale is the most common cause of gradual slowdown. We check the water supply pressure and the filter for restriction, and we consider the machine's location and ambient temperature, because a tight, warm cabinet chokes airflow. Only if cleaning and airflow do not restore the rate do we look at the sealed system.
